From time immemorial tea has been consumed as a beverage for health benefits.

In 350 AD – tea was consumed in China by boiling tea leaves and adding ginger, orange and other produce to it to treat digestive problems and nervous conditions.

In India Masala tea – black tea with spices and herbs has been used as remedy for minor ailments dating back over 5000 years.

Tea contains Polyphenolic Flavonoids which are powerful anti-oxidants.

Anti-oxidants found in both Black and Green tea tend to have a protective role in conditions such as -heart disease, stroke and cancers.

Anti-oxidants are compounds that help to prevent free radical damage to cells and tissues.

Flavonoids help to reduce inflammation, help maintain immune system function, help in the reduction of LDL cholesterol contributing to heart health. 

In Japanese survey of their population -drinking tea was linked to overall protection against illness and slowing down increase of cancer. Exact mechanisms are not known and study is required.

A recent study indicates that a supplement of green tea extract and L-theanine extracted from tea helped in improvement of mild cognitive impairments. 

A recent study showed consumption of more tea led to lower fatigue and improved better level of subjective work performance.

FACTS

Overall tea is a heathy beverage consumed in moderation (2-4 cups) a day.
